Baby Sloth Clings to Mom at the Zoo
The highlight of my zoo trip this last week was the sloths... Specifically the nine month old baby who still clings to Mom even though he’s way too big. ;). It seems even sloth mommas have a hard time pushing the babies away!
And note to self - This is why you should take your “real camera” to the zoo!
And we later learned all about sloths on our #animalsoundsafari podcast that you should all be listening to in your car for some #carschool !
Did you know moths live on sloths and lay eggs in the weekly poop so that when baby moths hatch, they carry tiny poop particles back up to the sloth hair (Gross!)... However, this poop feeds the algae on the sloths that turns them green and offers camouflage, and the poop covers their smell so their prey can’t find them. Isn’t that amazing? Good thing all that just happens ;)
