Youth Mission Trip: Taking the Leap of Faith
Raising teens is scary! I get it.
Mission trips. Youth group events. It’s the time of year to look at your teenager’s summer schedule… and debate what she is going to attend.
A year ago this week I was hesitant to join the youth group Honduras mission trip.
❓I didn’t know much about it.
❓I hadn’t been to Central America in 20 years.
❓I had safety concerns.
❓And I didn’t know the people going.
A week later…
❗️I had rejuvenated my love for missions and Spanish and Latin American culture.
❗️I had watched my 14 year old soak in the people and the place and the love of the missionaries.
❗️We had made new friends who we now see every week.
❗️And I was glad I didn’t listen to my doubts.
Whether missions or camp or VBS or vacation, weigh the pros and cons.
But remember that
⭐️They can thrive more than you ever imagined.
⭐️They need to form those relationships.
⭐️They are His and not yours.
⭐️And that the benefits and growth way outweigh the risks.
Give your kids opportunity to be brave and to grow their faith. ✈️🧳🇭🇳
