Recently I had the pleasure of spending a day in Leon -- one of Nicaragua's main cities -- and visiting a blanket factory. Called Telar Manual Textil La Fe, the factory is family owned and operates as a women's cooperative. I loved seeing the different designs, from small mountains to besos (kisses), woven into the 100% cotton handmade garments.

Even more, I got a mini lesson at using the wooden looms. I think I have two left feet, as I wasn't so good at the foot pedals. That's okay though, as it was a truly special experience!
