Savor the Moments: Embracing a Slower Homeschooling Journey
This little cutie is how I mark the progression of time. He’s still young enough to cuddle in my lap at church, but at 7, it’s getting a little tougher. I see the cute little freckles but I also have to see how he’s just so big!
.
He’s also my marker of progression through homeschooling and transitioning to part-time then full-time at home momma.
.
These are the markers that I missed with the other three while I worked crazy hours five days a week and never even considered not doing so. That’s what hard working women are supposed to do right? 😉
.
So for the topic or “advice” for the back to homeschool month with #fortheloveofhomeschooling I say this —- slow down. Empty the schedule. Reevaluate. Enjoy those momma moments without guilt of thinking you have to be busy. If you have any inkling of working less, do so guilt-free. I so wish someone had given me this advice years ago. I probably wouldn’t have listened though!
.
For homeschoolers already at home, do less!! Your 5 year old doesn’t need curriculum. They need books you read to them and lots and lots of play and permission to ask all the questions. And momma needs patience to listen and answer! Your six year old doesn’t need to be writing papers. Your seven year old doesn’t need you stressing over their reading.
.
.
PS: They will figure it out. Waiting a bit longer to learn the stuff makes it soooo much easier.
.
So… Sit back. Let the kids have their own timetable not the one some educator decided was right for every kid in the country… Because your kid is your kid. Not theirs. Or your other kid. Or the kids next door.
.
And those educators? They don’t have the option to cuddle and chill.
.
You do.
.
.
Let’s mark the progression of time slower. And savor. Here’s to starting our 8th year savoring! ❤️
