Prioritizing Wonder and Adventure with Kids
I did a thing. And I didn’t like it. 😢
I emptied out the drawer of little kid nature supplies.
🌻The big handed tweezers for grabbing.
🧭The durable kid compass for guiding.
🐞The bug sucker for… sucking.
🐛The water dropper and kid binoculars and measuring tape and bug jars…
Not because I’ve given up on nature study
(or my kids)…
But because life just looks different now.
Big kids probably won’t ask for rope to make a fish trap while out exploring
or their hands can hold bigger tools
If they even ask for them. 😢
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So here’s the 11-year homeschool mom reminding you for the 11,374th time…
Quit buying that homeschool curriculum.
Quit buying all the books.
Quit over scheduling your family.
Quit listening to the worry warts and “experts” on here who don’t know how to chill and trust that they’re doing enough.
👉And go wander a creek with your little kids.
😉Or let your little monster climb way too high in the playground.
Because one day,
the wonder will be less
and the schedules really will be busy.
When you need some reassurance,
come find me
because all those other “experts”
just make me tired.
❓Who else is prioritizing more adventure and exploring this year?
🙋♀️Tell me how you’re going to make sure it happens!
