Reclaiming Wonders
The image depicts a large group of young children, likely homeschooled students, sitting on the ground in an outdoor setting with a whimsical topiary sculpture in the background. The sculpture is shaped like a large, friendly face, with a top hat made of shrubbery adorned with playing card symbols, suggesting an Alice in Wonderland theme. The children, ranging in age from preschool to pre-teen, are dressed in a variety of casual and colorful clothing, indicating a relaxed and playful atmosphere. Many of them appear to be engaged in conversation or play with their peers, fostering a sense of community and socialization. The setting, with lush greenery and a clear blue sky, provides a natural and serene backdrop for the gathering.

Prioritizing Community in Homeschooling

Look at all those poor unsocialized homeschoolers! 😃 . As some of you are launching into a new homeschool journey or still trying to figure it out —- it will never feel figured out BTW — it’s time for my yearly reminder that it’s all about community. Don’t homeschool alone! Or Mom alone. Or parent alone. Or grownup alone… . . Thankfully, our main curriculum through Classical Conversations also brings us immediate friends for mom and kids as well as so many people around the world that are similarly minded! When we moved, we were able to plug in immediately with this group of Georgia homeschoolers (pic from 2 years ago). . . Community also looks like neighbors and church friends and choir friends and family and… and… . . Let’s have a mom movement that actually prioritizes people! There is no prize for busiest. Friends and neighbors will move away - and you’ll wish you had made more time. Speaking as one who has been there! . We are so thankful for all our communities. Even if this introvert has to make herself participate at times 😂
