Nature's Magical Adventure for Young Explorers

When a nature exploring day becomes your child’s magical land, it’s been a good hike. . . K declared, “This is just like SourWoods!” and took off. I heard all about the trail to the magical tree and which character she would be in the story and then we saw the tree growing through the abandoned structure - just like in the book! It’s not just an audiobook to fill her time. It’s a world she has made her own. . . On the walk back, C told me all about the Donner party and their journey toward California from his book he’s been reading... and related it back to the Sioux in Dances with Wolves which we watched this weekend (with fast forwards!). All while we talked about our Ojibwe family from the book we finished listening to in the car on the way to Athens. . . So much better than a book report any day! Check. It all counts when you take the time to ask the questions and dig in. So much better than going to the art museum like I had suggested ;) . . Today’s walk brought to you by: Jonathan Auxier’s The Night Gardener, Donner Dinner Party by Nathan Hale, And The Game of Silence by Louise Erdrich. And @readaloudrevival for guiding good questions!!
