Reclaiming Wonders

Illustrator's Visit to the Library

The Caldecott winning R. Gregory Christie came to our library Saturday, and the girls got to learn how to make books from him. He was a great, enthusiastic teacher , and it was a wonderful opportunity to see a real-life illustrator… I do so strive to show the kids adults who love what they do! . We read quite a few books illustrated by him last year when we focused for months for Black history. That made it even better to already be familiar with some of his work. . And , I admit, it brought a moment of Momma pride when both girls wanted to win the Martin Luther King, Jr. print over all the others. We had seen it in one of our favorite JFK books as well (last slide). . Such a great opportunity and even better with special friends! If you haven’t found his books, add him to your illustrator list and go dive into some great picture book biographies.
