Grandma's Attic: A Nostalgic Journey
A typewriter. Who knew using a typewriter would have been their favorite part? Hands-on exploring in Grandma’s Attic was their favorite part at this Montgomery museum.
.
Another free Alabama Museum (and the last of our trip last week) was the Alabama Department of a Archives and History - an excellent museum in an amazing building across from the Capitol.
.
Head down the hall to the big history section for videos and displays full of artifacts and replica areas. It’s a walk through all Alabama history - a full history course of so much information. There is also a room about the land of Alabama and the first Native Americans. Save the play room for last though as bribery - you could hang a long time in there!
.
Travel tip: Park behind the archives in a small parking lot marked by a small brown sign for free. Then plan to walk to the White House and the Capitol and over to Dr. King’s church. Lots of walking in lovely downtown capital blocks. You can also park in a paid spot and pay on the app- but time is limited to two hours. More to see than you’ll see in two hours!
.
Add Montgomery to your Alabama road trip. It’s worth a day of exploring.
