Reclaiming Wonders
The image shows a book cover featuring a large portrait of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. Kennedy's face is rendered in a colorful, almost abstract style, with bold brushstrokes and vibrant hues. His expression appears intense and determined. Below the portrait are two smaller figures of children, one wearing blue and the other pink, standing together and holding a broom or rake-like object. The title of the book, 'A Time to Act: John F. Kennedy's Big Speech,' is prominently displayed above the portrait in blue and white text. The book cover suggests that the book explores Kennedy's influential speeches and their impact, particularly on the Civil Rights Movement, through a children's or educational lens.

Exploring JFK's Legacy Through Children's Books

JFK was a history mystery until I dug in for the last year with me books. Then I found lovely kid books. And bored the hubby with details of JFK’s life. So I wrote out the details in a blog post for others to dig in easier. I’m going to try to move on now to something new... Maybe ;) . . But he’s not a person you ever get to in school because you run out of time for “recent history”. Yet, he was involved in so much of the 1960s —— so many mentioned are in this great picture book. . . This book could stand alone as a spine for so many off shoots of study for the 1960s especially related to the Civil Right Movement. In light of Black History month, people should learn the big steps he made to get the ball rolling! . . Check out the link in my profile to take you to my blog post: “Reading Through History: John F. Kennedy”. Hope it helps you dive in with your family and learn some new history!!! Enjoy!
