Reclaiming Wonders
A young child with short, blonde hair is focused on painting a canvas with intricate scenes of trees and a sunset using a paint-by-number kit. The child is seated at a cluttered table filled with art supplies, books, and a cup, presumably in a home environment. The background suggests a lived-in space with shelves and furniture visible. The image captures a moment of creative expression and engagement for the child.

Embracing the Homeschool Lifestyle

Stick with it! Morning time with bigs will look different, but it can be done. . I’ve seen so many moms worry about how they will fit in morning time or group reading once their kids are in harder classes and have busy schedules. I was one of them. However, this is our second year of juggling Challenge (8th grade) while still doing morning time - Don’t give it up! . . The key? Mom has to consider it as important (if not more so) than their other “real” studies. I’d much rather my kid stay with us for an hour or two to read Bible and history and memory work and good books than do every stinkin’ Latin problem. . In the big picture, this is what matters. She’s home to be on our schedule and to spend time with our family. Not to mention, she still loves being with us and listens along with good quality picture books just like everyone else. It’s not wasted time. . Homeschool is a lifestyle. If you have to do a bit of work on the weekends, that’s the way it is. If you don’t get the extra school project done, so be it. See the big picture. It is doable. . . And a good quality paint by number? That might even keep that big kid even more willing to hang while books are being read. This was her first and she’s already planning her next. Why had we never done this before?
