Reclaiming Wonders
An imposing and ornate historical courthouse building stands prominently in the image. Its neoclassical architectural style features a symmetrical façade with tall Ionic columns supporting an intricately decorated pediment. The building's exterior is constructed from red brick and white stone, giving it a stately and formal appearance. Large arched windows with decorative ironwork let natural light into the interior spaces. A wide set of stone steps leads up to the main entrance, where a person in casual attire can be seen ascending, underscoring the grandeur of the structure. Lush greenery and trees frame the courthouse, adding a natural contrast to the man-made edifice.

Exploring Historical Madison

Staycationing today with the grandparents. We drove to Madison for some antebellum house drive bys mixed with history as Memma read to us about the houses from the town tour app on her phone. Madison was ranked several years ago as one of the most beautiful small towns in the world. Impressive, right? General Sherman had a gentleman’s agreement with the Unionist mayor and didn’t burn down the city as he stormed across Georgia. Thus... lots of old towns. And it’s amazing how much information you can get just by stopping and talking to the lovely people at the visitor’s center. I need to do this more often. We weren’t able to tour the courthouse today because it was in session, but even from outside it’s quite impressive.
