Reclaiming Wonders
The image depicts an underground subway station platform, specifically Pentagon Station. The platform is dimly lit, with a tiled floor and concrete walls. In the foreground, a person wearing a blue headscarf, a grey jacket, and a backpack is sitting on an escalator, seemingly waiting for a train to arrive. The escalator stairs are visible, leading up to a higher level. At the end of the platform, red and yellow illuminated signs indicate the presence of an exit or entrance.

Building Kids' Confidence Through Travel

Best way to build your kids’ confidence? Travel! 🌎✈️🧳 🛑If you hover… If you don’t cut the cord… If you don’t let the kids have growth opportunities, they can’t grow. And they’re so proud of themselves when they do.🌟 🔹Put all family members in charge of packing and managing their own luggage. 🔹Involve the kids in trip planning and costs for your next family vacation. 🔹Let them sit next to the stranger in the airplane. 🔹Take them to the big cities and foreign destinations. 🔹Let them figure out the subway map and lead the family through the stops. 🔹Model how to be aware of their surroundings and safety risks. 🔹Show them not to be afraid of the homeless (or weird or fancy or or or…) people downtown. 🔹Make them go to the hotel desk and ask for the extra pillow. 🔹Send them to get the hotel breakfast on their own. (With rules😉) 🔹Push them to order their own food at restaurants. And use all of these as opportunities to talk about safety and risks. Send them with a phone if needed. 🛑But…They shouldn’t fear the unknown. (And neither should you.) 👉👉Reaching adulthood with life skills is way more important than calculating angles on a worksheet. 😉 . . . . 📸11/22; DC metro after the 9/11 Memorial at the Pentagon . . .
