A young woman with long dark hair is standing on a balcony overlooking a majestic theater interior. The theater, once a grand performance hall, has been converted into an elegant bookstore called El Ateneo Grand Splendid. The woman is gazing down at the rows of bookshelves filling the former seating area, beautifully illuminated by ornate light fixtures. The frescoed ceilings and intricate architectural details showcase the opulent design of this historic theater-turned-bookshop, widely regarded as one of the most stunning bookstores in the world. The image captures the awe-inspiring blend of literature and architecture in this iconic Buenos Aires landmark.

In Buenos Aires I visited El Ateneo Grand Splendid - known as the most beautiful bookstore in the world. Built in an old theater, with the rows and audience area lit up and filled with all kinds of books, it lives up to its name. •• I have always been a huge book nerd, and try to find unique or interesting bookstores wherever I go. In Ateneo, I bought the book Rayuela by Julio Cortazar, a great Argentinian author. It sits on my bookshelf as a reminder to keep working on my Spanish, so one day I can read it. •• Do you have a favorite travel book?
