Embracing the Unexpected Career Path
What's one thing you've accomplished that you never imagined you would? 🙌

When I started my travel blog in 2011 I never thought I'd be the one speaking at conferences. I also never thought I'd lead my own tours. 🗽 But alas, here I am in 2019, doing both. (And apparently having a blast doing it. Thank you TravelingJules for capturing these fun photos from Women's Travel Fest!) 📸

I say these things not to brag, but to serve as a reminder that you really never know what the future holds. ANYTHING is possible. Back when I started in the travel space, the only thing I knew was that I loved to travel and that I would do whatever it took to make it a big part of my life. 💪
___
I had no idea how I would do it, but I had enough passion to propel me forward. Everything else I needed to know I learned along the way. (ps - I'm an "elder millennial", so despite popular belief I didn't grow up with a cell phone or social media, and when I was in middle school my family gdial-up up internet from the public library that would make a screeching noise and then kick whoever was on the phone off of the landline. I was NOT a tech-savvy child! 😂). ___
There have certainly been hiccups along the way, and while I never looked *back* I've certainly glanced sideways from time to time. 😉 But at the end of the day, I genuinely look forward to my days and absolutely love being my own boss and getting paid to be creative.
___
Real talk: ☝️*THAT* is the biggest benefit of owning my own online business, an even bigger perk than the travel.
