Becoming Full-Time RV Travelers
It took 15 months
15 months to upgrade our truck, find a rig for fulltiming, prep the house to sell, sell the house, and purge about 90% off our things.
After I agreed to go fulltime, we started going through each room in the house and downsizing. One pile each to donate, sell, and keep. We did this process a few times over the next few months.
Our biggest lessons learn for downsizing:
1️⃣ We didn't realize we had SO much stuff. We focused on minimizing the kitchen and bedrooms first. Repeat this process a few times.
2️⃣ Get your rig before you move out of the home and move things in. This way you get to see how much space you actually have (or don't have).
3️⃣ Spend the money and get the big dumpster. While we tried to sell and donate as much as we could, we still had so much stuff. We opted for the larger dumpster and it was worth it.
It took 6 months to find the right rig for us to travel fulltime in (see 2nd 📸). We bought a 2018 Coachman Catalina 323 with two slides and separate bunkroom for the kids.
Also, we purchased a used truck but the transmission went out a few days before we hit the road so we ended up buying a brand new truck. Our truck has ~72k miles on it and running like a boss!
That closes our story about how we became fulltime RV travelers. We've been on the road over 2 years now.
