Arugam Bay: Sri Lanka's Surf and Wildlife Paradise

Welcome to Sri Lanka’s East Coast Gem: Arugam Bay 🏄🏼‍♀️🐘🐒🌊🌿 Arugam Bay is known for being a surfers paradise in the season from June until August, but what I’ve learned whilst being here is it’s truly a year round destination and you can visit any time. Just know that if you want to surf, you’ll have to plan your trip between May-August/September. If you visit in the less busy season you’ll find that most shops are closed, but it’s worth a visit for the surrounding wildlife you can spot, breathtaking nature and stunning beaches! Some people say that since it’s so quiet there is even more wildlife sightings and that makes the trip worth it in and of itself if you ask me! Here are some wonderful things to do when you visit, save this to your Sri Lanka folder! ⤵️ 🏄🏼‍♀️ Check out various surf spots such as Main Point, Peanut Farm, Lighthouse & Elephant Rock. If you’re a beginner/ intermediate surfer, I highly recommend going with a local instructor at first so you can learn about the different points that are ‘working’ and the best places to go for the time you are visiting.. 🥾 Hike Elephant Rock + Crocodile Rock, both are beautiful at sunset / sunrise 🐘 Go on a tuktuk safari (yes it’s really a thing 😅) With Kumana National Park (which neighbors the famous Yala National Park) and Lahugala Kitulana National Park surrounding Arugam Bay, you can definitely spot wildlife in the area - especially elephants! Monkeys, crocodiles and a ton of bird species as well. 🐆 Go on a day trip to Kumana National Park Have you heard of Arugam Bay or have I convinced you to add it to your bucket list? _____ #arugambay #eastcoastsrilanka #srilankatrip #srilankatravel #adventuretravel #bucketlistadventures ARUGAM BAY | EAST COAST SRI LANKA
