Embracing Real Life Over Homeschooling
How do you “do school” when real life gets in the way?
The answer: We choose real life.
Current status: Hiking in the woods with besties in the spring sunshine. ☀️🥾🌳
❓“Is it okay to take a break from homeschooling?” or
❓“Can we play hookie when the lovely spring weather is calling?” or
⁉️“Help! My kid spent 40 hours last week in the theater….” 🙋♀️
Make schooling work for your schedule instead of the other way around. It’s a major reason we choose this homeschool life! ❤️
💡Tip 1: Catch up later.
My kids tend to “do math” in the summer. It’s hot. They don’t have as many groups or classes. It’s an excellent time to stay inside and catch up.
👉You also can just choose to skip what you don’t get to. 😉
💡Tip 2: Allow for rest.
See the kids’ physical or mental or emotional exhaustion and let them take care of themselves. Let them sleep in late or take a nap. Live a slower pace. Teach them to do it.
👉This counts for Mom too! Model rest and quiet. Maybe your kids will grow up with better self care than we allow ourselves. 😉
