Reclaiming Wonders
A vast, seemingly endless stretch of flat, arid prairie land extends as far as the eye can see. The ground is covered in a sparse layer of dry, patchy vegetation, intermittently dotted with small mounds of earth, likely the burrows of prairie dogs. The landscape appears desolate and barren, with no trees, buildings, or other structures in sight. The sky above is a deep, cloudless blue, typical of an open, remote area. The scene conveys a sense of isolation and the vastness of nature.

Vast Prairie Dog Colony

It's hard to tell in the picture what I'm looking at... prairie dogs. For miles. Like the whole scenery is flat dirt with little polka dots of prairie dog mounds. Acres. The video in the visitor center was taking about how important they are for the ground and ecosystem... required for the ferrets as they eat them. Who knew. The kids loved screaming about how much they love their "fat little butts"! They are really cute... I'm still fascinated by the sheer number.
