Shakespeare's Globe Experience
#shakespearesglobe offers tours, and we sat through a little drizzle at times to hear about the man, the times, and the theaters. We went in where they were rehearing a scene from The Comedy of Errors which made M want to come back for a play. And then C insisted he did too.
So the big kids and I watched Henry V at night while Dad and the littles went back. I have never seen a live performance of Shakespeare, and the kids knew nothing about the plot other than what I read them from the synopsis. I’m pretty sure C had no idea what was going on, and M said it was like watching a silent film because she couldn’t understand a lot of the words. ;) It was a ten member troupe each who had several roles which was fun to watch... especially when the men and women switched gender roles without difficulty. Something about old men in dresses is always good for kid entertainment. Even Henry was a woman who did an amazing job being a powerful man.
We learned. We experienced. And they were the only kids in the place. Good place to start.
@kim.pyle we talked about your St Crispin’s Day speech you read us. Granted, they didn’t remember, but I did. So thanks for that! “We band of brothers...”
