Savannah: Charming Southern City
I didn’t like Savannah the first time. It was hot. I was sweaty. I didn’t know what to do there…
Now I know what to do in Savannah… You wander.
You soak up slow Southern life.
And I like it. ❤️
🔹Live oak trees draped in Spanish moss
🔹22 tree-lined squares and fountains
🔹Historic churches and elegant houses…
and tons of gourmet food.
We did these well.
In the rain.☔️🌧️
If you research Savannah, it has a high crime rate. However, the concierge at our hotel had no safety concerns at night at all when I asked and told me to wander without worries. I didn’t know about the crime rate until afterward. 😁
But even away from touristy areas, I didn’t feel unsafe in Savannah. The Historic District allows open containers of alcohol… but I still didn’t see any rowdiness. The few homeless people we saw didn’t make me uncomfortable. I honestly felt safe the entire time unlike our DC nighttime walks. Of note: we weren’t out late. Boring people here. 🙋♀️
🚍Savannah does have a free trolley system, but we didn’t use it this time.
Enjoy Savannah.
🔹Grab a map of tourist sites.
🔹Make a loose itinerary.
🔹Leave your car at the hotel. ( @hyattregencysavannah )
🔹Leave your big bags at the hotel and don’t give pick pockets the temptation.
🔹Put on your good walking shoes.
🔹And go explore this Southern city.
😉Bring a raincoat and umbrella just in case.
😁Bonus tip: Leggings on rainy days. Means no sopping wet jeans for this girl anymore!
⁉️Are you team Savannah or Charleston? Despite all this, I think I’m still team Charleston, but I’m willing to keep testing both out. 😉
👉Because I’m a giver. 😁
