Homeschool Rebels: Embracing Unconventional Learning
Homeschool rebel confession time. šāāļø
My homeschool kids donāt take testsā¦.
ā
Math worksheets. Sure.
ā
Verbal quizzes to āspell this wordā. Yup.
ā
Written papers with mom about books or history. Yes.
But timed sit-here-and-do-it so homeschool mom can give you a number grade?
Or bubble in this multiple-choice test?
āļøNope.
And my homeschool kids are surviving. Dare I sayā¦ thriving?
šBecause when you take the time to have conversations, you know what they know.
Remember you chose to keep them at home to be different.
Donāt just ādo schoolā because thatās what others expect. ā¤ļø
š¹Turn off the radio and listen to their day.
š¹Let them narrate back to you what they read.
š¹Invite them on a walk and quiz them verbally.
š¹Talk through geography or their next step for their paper or what they donāt understand in science.
šNo red pens needed.
This nine year homeschooling mom saysā¦
šDonāt stress the grades. Please.
šSee the weak points and work together to fix them.
All the rest can wait until high schoolā¦
And only because the āreal worldā requires silly transcripts and tests.
Life goal: (Finally) sign up for that state standardized testā¦ Shhh. š¤«š¤š
šHomeschool rebels! Tell me hi. Solidarity. šāāļø
