Homeschool Rebels: Embracing Unconventional Learning

Homeschool rebel confession time. šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø My homeschool kids donā€™t take testsā€¦. āœ…Math worksheets. Sure. āœ…Verbal quizzes to ā€œspell this wordā€. Yup. āœ…Written papers with mom about books or history. Yes. But timed sit-here-and-do-it so homeschool mom can give you a number grade? Or bubble in this multiple-choice test? ā‰ļøNope. And my homeschool kids are surviving. Dare I sayā€¦ thriving? šŸ‘‰Because when you take the time to have conversations, you know what they know. Remember you chose to keep them at home to be different. Donā€™t just ā€œdo schoolā€ because thatā€™s what others expect. ā¤ļø šŸ”¹Turn off the radio and listen to their day. šŸ”¹Let them narrate back to you what they read. šŸ”¹Invite them on a walk and quiz them verbally. šŸ”¹Talk through geography or their next step for their paper or what they donā€™t understand in science. šŸ˜‰No red pens needed. This nine year homeschooling mom saysā€¦ šŸ‘‰Donā€™t stress the grades. Please. šŸ‘‰See the weak points and work together to fix them. All the rest can wait until high schoolā€¦ And only because the ā€œreal worldā€ requires silly transcripts and tests. Life goal: (Finally) sign up for that state standardized testā€¦ Shhh. šŸ¤«šŸ¤šŸ˜‰ šŸ‘‰Homeschool rebels! Tell me hi. Solidarity. šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø . . . . . .
