Ruby Anna Falls: Overrated Georgia Waterfall?
Unpopular opinion… but Ruby Anna Falls in North Georgia isn’t the best place to go for a Georgia hike and waterfall adventure.
It had been on my Georgia travel list since moving here. I had been told by so many friends to head to stop by and see it. But why?!
🛑It’s touristy. - It even has open and closing hours.
🛑It’s crowded. - Told you “everyone” recommends it.
🛑It’s a paid “attraction”. - $5 per adult.
🛑It’s inaccessible to the water. - You stay on the boardwalk and wait for clear shot without others for your photo opportunity.
Give me a good dirt trail through the forest any day.
🌳A place where we might see another family or two, but not where we follow groups the entire way.
🌳A place where my wild and free kids can take off their shoes or chase each other down the mountain without getting looks.
🌳A place where the kids can rest at the waterfall and play in the water.
❓Who should head to Ruby Falls near Helen?
(Which is also another too-tourist place)
👉People who want an easily accessible falls.
It’s paved. It’s relatively short. It’s easy to take a photo and get a check mark. it’s an easy stop in a Georgia road trip. Not to mention, there are rangers and a visitor center if you need emergency help or such.
Don’t get me wrong.
It’s better than no waterfall.
However…
👉 Send this to your friend who needs to go chasing waterfalls with you.
🌷Spring is (mostly) here!
