Reclaiming Wonders
The image depicts a museum exhibit showcasing aspects of the American Revolutionary War. The exhibit features life-size mannequins dressed in period clothing and uniforms, representing both Native American warriors and Continental Army soldiers. The mannequins are posed in a diorama-like setting, with one Native American figure brandishing a weapon and the soldiers holding muskets. The backdrop consists of an American flag and a Confederate flag, adding historical context to the scene. In the foreground, a young woman in a blue shirt appears to be studying the exhibit materials laid out on a table, which include informational placards and replica weapons or artifacts. The exhibit seems to be an immersive and educational experience, aiming to bring the Revolutionary War era to life.

Revolutionary War Exhibit Mix-up

The Guilford CourtHouse National Military Park will go down in family history as “that place where Mom realized she had booked a hotel for the wrong town”. ;) . . This was a last minute stop. I walked up and told the outside Rangers I had no idea the significance, and he walked us through it’s role in the Revolutionary War. Then on all Mom-frazzled-brain, I told him we are headed to Appomattox and how far apart were these two battles. Doi! Then he nicely explained they were one hundred and something days apart... (to the day, of course) . . Genius Mom move. . . We are going to too many history sites. I was worried they were going to start blending for the kids and here I am, on day one, with brain fog ;) . . Then he explained it was the big battle that led to Yorktown. Now life makes sense again. . . I wish we’d had more time and brain power to stay and explore. The ranger did answer Coop’s questions about rifles and muskets. So that’s something ;) . . This will also be “that museum where M stayed inside to read stuff while Mom had to call the hotel from the car”. ;) . . History trip Day 1b
