Reclaiming Wonders
A family, consisting of a mother, father, and two young children - a boy and a girl - are standing in front of an exhibit at a science museum. The exhibit features a large window that displays fossil specimens and the tools used by paleontologists to clean and study them. Above the window, there are two screens showing magnified views of the fossils, one in shades of blue and the other in shades of pink. The family is intently observing the exhibit, with the children looking particularly engaged and curious. The mother is pointing something out to the children, likely explaining the process of fossil excavation and analysis.

Paleontology Exhibit at Houston Science Museum

Best new to us part of the Houston Science museum was seeing the paleontologists in action cleaning off fossils. The camera above showed what they see though their microscope, and we pushed a button to talk to them and ask questions. The kids usually grumble when I want to stop and listen to docents but they end up enjoying it and learning so much. Always talk to the staff! The volunteer had only been working on his fossil since February. I’m going to remember this when the kids grumble about all their “hard work” ;)
