Number Knockout: A Math Game for All Ages
How about a challenging math game that doesn’t require any supplies? Learn to play (National) Number Knockout or N2K.
.
This game is good for all ages, practices every possible math skill, and has endless possibilities.
In class, we use a 1-36 board and 3 dice, but that’s not required.
.
👉How to play:
1️⃣Write out 1 to 36 in a grid.
2️⃣Roll 3 dice for 3 different numbers.
3️⃣Solve one number at a time by adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, squaring, cubing, and doing the order of operations.
4️⃣Learn that any number “to the zero” equals one.
5️⃣Your kid “knocks out” each number one at a time.
.
They can race against the clock, each other, or their personal best. Let them work in teams. It can be as competitive as you want. At the national level, these kids compete verbally with equations in their heads only. 🤯
.
👉Variations:
🎲Tell your kids 3 numbers, and write down the number you want them to solve.
🎲Use a 12-sided dice for higher numbers.
🎲Make a bingo board to get five-in-a-row.
🎲Make a grid with every 3rd number or pick special numbers.
🎲Give them a squares or cubes chart if they don’t have them memorized.
🎲Use only really big numbers to force them to use higher cubes etc.
🎲Give them a number of the day to solve based on today’s date.
.
.
🤩Add this to your arsenal, and you’ll never be without a math project.
