Reclaiming Wonders

Museum Interior and Gardens

At the Philbrook Museum, part of the treasure and art is the house itself. The rooms and ceilings and padded fabric walls are still intact. The carved pillars. Stained glass. And the views into the garden! . . While there is some Renaissance art, much of it was modern installations. There’s a big area currently dedicated to Greenwood - pictures of rebuilding and the community after the Tulsa Race Riots, but not much actual history information (which I would have loved to see). They are known for their large collection of Native American art and pottery. . . The museum does a great job with seating. Each room seemed to have benches or couches that work well to tell the kids to “Sit!” 😂 . . My takeaway: see what exhibits they currently have on rotation and go mostly for the house and gardens. Dali was a traveling exhibit. Each trip would be new stuff!
