Modeling a Learning Life for Your Children
Mother culture pushes me to be the lead learner in my house. As Julie Bogart wisely says, “How will our kids want to grow up to be awesome adults if we don’t show them?” #hereisourhomeschool
.
The kids won’t see me reading Plato or working on my kombucha or any of those traditional Charlotte Mason-y things. But…
.
🤓Their mom will constantly be seen with a book.
Or doing Bible study.
Or having nerd conversations with other moms.
Or pursuing a new recipe. Or place.
Or picking up my cross-stitch.
Or writing.
Or learning with them their geography and history.
Or sitting in church diagramming a verse.
To never stop learning.
.
.
🌳Their mom will pull over the car to take a picture of wildflowers.
Or read a historical marker.
Or stoop down to look at an animal footprint.
Or wake them up early to go to the beach and watch the sunrise.
To never stop appreciating the beauty of God’s world.
.
.
🛁Their mom will model for them self care.
Or the joy of sleeping in.
Or making time for friends.
Or prioritizing alone time.
Or how to say no to busy-ness.
To be who God made them to be.
.
.
Be an awesome adult. Check out my blog post “Becoming the Lead Learner.” How do you model a learning life and make sure your kids see it? Hint: they can’t see you doing it if it just looks like you’re playing in your phone. ❤️
