Hiking Whistling Trail Arch in Red River Gorge
Hiking. Boulders. Amazing rocks and great views. Good way to spend Thanksgiving!
.
An hour south of Lexington, Kentucky is a scenic drive that goes through the Red River Gorge. The road goes through the Daniel Boone National Forest and has many trails leading off to rock arches and waterfalls. And I had no idea it existed until planning for this trip.
.
The weather was rainy so we waited to go out for the day —- and didn’t stay or do as much as I planned because of it. But what we saw was enough to warrant another trip in the future.
.
This was our second stop - Whistling Trail Arch. With one small arch, the main claim here was the boulders to explore and the view out over the smoking trees and valleys. It would be amazing in the fall. This short 1/4 mile trail is a must for your wild and crazy climbers.. especially when Daddy is present for back up adventuring. It is right on a cliff.. so not the best for the littles.
.
Save this for when you go to Kentucky and head off to the Ark and Creation Museum. Our ultimate destination!
