Reclaiming Wonders
A medieval musician donning a period costume stands inside a majestic stone hall with ornate architectural details, playing a stringed instrument resembling a hurdy-gurdy. Behind him, two armored guards stand watch, while the warm, red-tinted interior is illuminated by sunlight streaming through arched windows. Several children in modern attire sit cross-legged on the checkered floor, enthralled by the musician's performance, providing a delightful contrast between the historical setting and the present day. The vibrant colors and intricate details of the scene evoke a sense of time travel, blending the past and present in a captivating display.

Medieval Musician Entertains in Historic Castle

There was a musician in the Great Hall of #edinburghcastle demonstrating medieval instruments including the 3 holed flute, pocket bassoon, and, our favorite, the hirdy-girdy. He spoke of the role of the musicians and how they brought not only music to villages but also news of where he had been. I can’t imagine a world where music only comes when a traveller comes through or you make it yourself. I decided Greg would have been a hit back in the day with his brain’s capacity to know every song ever. A traveling jukebox. He sang and played us a song written by Henry VIII even explaining the seven parts of #classicaleducation ! In order to be considered well educated at that time, everyone would have known how to write and play instruments. To show how smart you were. It’s hard to imagine large imposing Henry standing up and serenading his castle ;)
