Reclaiming Wonders
A wooden table or floor is covered with various items related to nature and animal classification. There are printed images of animals, such as a bird, a turtle, a snake, and a frog, as well as images depicting plants like a fern leaf. Accompanying the images are handwritten notes, likely descriptions or classification details about the subjects depicted. The items appear to be educational materials, possibly used for teaching about the diversity of living organisms and their taxonomy. The presence of a green storage box suggests these resources may be part of a homeschooling or hands-on learning activity.

Hands-On Animal Classification Activity

This morning’s #classicalconversations was brought to you by the classification of living things. And my awesome box of animal cards - best goodwill purchase yet. Let’s organize them into classes, why are they that way, what’s different, where do they live, who looks the most alike... kept us good and busy for an hour working together. And a good way to realize what we need to work on. All you have to do is ask questions, and they do the thinkjng. We have a six week chunk on animals so today was just the first of many. This plus our new zoo membership equals science curriculum! So much better than silly old textbooks. And then there’s K who is asking about microbes over dinner. Library books for the win... five hours after the reading at lunch. I had a door to door textbook salesman I endured yesterday. Long story. Simple answer... nope.
