Haleakala Crater Hike with Kids

@haleakalanps the drive is a doozy. Our Shaka app (thanks for all the recommendations!) said it was one of the fastest ascents in a road in the world. Sea level to 10,000 ft in and hour. We made frequent pull overs, blasted air, and sucked on candy... and no full out car sickness. . . We only had time for one quick hike to look out over the crater because the sun was close to down. The crater is bigger than the island of Manhattan! . . Pretty rocky and barren at the top, but we drove past eucalyptus trees on the way up. And pine trees. . . Way to be troopers! And they weren’t sad the visitor center was closed so no junior ranger badges ;)
