Family Trip to Monticello for Thomas Jefferson

Guess where we’re going to be on Saturday? . . We’re excited now that we know how awesome Thomas Jefferson was. Polymath. Naturalist. Inventor. Architect. Super cool dude (overlooking that whole slavery thing). . . And they’ve been walking around here singing “Thomas Jefferson’s coming ho-oo-ome”. Hamilton to the rescue. . . You know it’s a good book when you have to keep telling the kids to quit singing their history songs and interrupting the reading. ;) . . We’ve read several really good books. I highly recommend My Name Is James Madison Hemings - and it opened so many conversations about TJ and Sally and their kids. I definitely didn’t read anything like this when I was growing up! Did you know their kids would have only been 1/8 black and several passed themselves as white?! . . Off we go!
