Reclaiming Wonders
A young child is lying on their stomach on a floral bedspread, holding a wooden mancala board game in front of them. Another child, presumably younger, is sitting on the bed beside them, their legs visible wearing a red sweatshirt with white text. The mancala board has two rows of small pockets, each filled with colorful glass or plastic beads, suggesting they are actively engaged in playing the strategic count-and-capture game. The setting appears cozy and relaxed, conducive to family bonding activities.

Family Game Night: Learning with Mancala

#gameschooling is at its max over here. I pulled out mancala which I have had as a wedding gift... and have just looked at it for the past 15 years or so... and they love it. So much learning to happen here with these gaming brains. Especially when they’re fun for parents and kids. I love watching the four year old count his spaces ahead and strategize. I’ll do it right this fourth time around. Genius! Sounds like the best way to spend some cold cuddly days. And sneak in some skip counting while you’re doing it.
