Exploring Tarpon Springs' Greek Community

Hidden on Florida’s gulf shore is a small Greek community - we needed some authentic gyros from Hellas on our drive home. Those are sponges on the wall behind my kid! . Tarpon Springs was founded by a Greek man who discovered the area was good for ocean sponge diving, so he brought over many of his friends from Greece. Now it’s one of the largest Greek communities in the US. . It’s a lot touristy. But heavily Greek with many authentic restaurants and fishing boats just back from dives. You can go out on an ocean trip, but we just ate and bought some baklava for the road. . Geography and culture lesson for the day. Check. 🤓 . .
