Exploring Natchez Indigenous History and Mounds

First stop in Natchez was the Natchez Indian site. Our first mound builder experience. Corn grinding, artifacts, lots of running, culture discussions, mushroom sightings, human sacrifice... Coop might have picked up a dead bird before Dad stopped him. I love that we have talked about a lot of civilizations this year already and can add this one. Castes like (east) Indians, sun worship and afterlife like Egypt.. And then there's the whole French arrived and killed them aspect. FYI Greg had a conversation with the gift shop lady about the high number of foreigners who have come here.... Seems French consider this part of their heritage. Pitiful that as many people have travelled from France s from Texas this year. We need to appreciate our own history more.
