Explore the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Georgia

Hidden east of Atlanta is a monastery. Random right? 👉(This is why I’m telling to save it and go.) The Monastery of the Holy Spirit. A small group of Trappist monks. Living and preserving nature. During our visit, we didn’t see the monks but we… 🌳Walked the nature trails 🌳Explored the Monastic Heritage Center 🌳Considered some tasty bakery snacks 🌳Learned about the monk life 🌳Browsed the book store… ⛪️And went in the beautiful church. In the museum, we learned that originally, the stained glass was white so as not to be too luxurious. But it was too hot in the Georgia sun so they allowed blue. And look at the result. They still create stained glass for sale when not performing their church duties. They take care of the natural cemetery (sign me up!) and offer retreats. And it’s a beautiful, free, nature outing. Located near Arabia Mountain, combine your Abbey visit with some wooded hikes on the Rockdale River Trail or hiking Arabia Mountain! . . . 💾Save this for your next day trip around Georgia. . . . . @monastery.of.the.holy.spirit @arabiamountain_nha @visitconyersga @rockdalega @atlantamom #discover ATL
