Embracing Simple Family Adventures
Wanna know what’s holding you back from family adventures? 🌳⛰️🎣
✅You.
✅And your stinkin’ expectations of travel perfection.
Last week, on our North Carolina trip, we stopped in a small town (Todd) while waiting for our amazing kayaking adventure with @rivergirlfishingco
We wandered the small river island.
A mile-long trail around the perimeter.
Just us and some fly fishermen.
Out in nature.
Simple and peaceful.
However…
I was feeling a bit underwhelmed. After all, it’s just some undeveloped acres surrounded by trees and the river.
But the kids loved it.
They skipped stones.
Just looked and relaxed.
And declared it perfectly creepy (because of the solitude - and because they’re weird 😉).
❓And the only one voicing a complaint?
The perfectionist in my head
Who was waiting on the kids’ fussing to start.
Who was thinking we need to “fill our time” with something else.
👉Remember.
It doesn’t take much for a nature adventure.
Or for a memorable vacation day.
After some busy days of “seeing it all” (especially on family trips), sometimes what you need the most is just some quiet time of doing nothing…
😁Together.
Bonus if there is a river for pretend stick-fishing, and there are stones to skip across.
❌Travel mom just needs to get out of the way.
