Reclaiming Wonders
A group of people, including adults and children, are gathered on a grassy field near a row of low buildings in the background. They are unfolding and holding up a large American flag, seemingly participating in a flag ceremony or activity. The scene appears to be outdoors, with a clear blue sky overhead. The group's interaction with the flag suggests a sense of patriotism, community involvement, or educational experience.

Embracing Life's Opportunities: Raising Well-Rounded Kids

How to socialize... Live life and embrace all opportunities. Don’t homeschool or parent in a bubble. Opportunities for interacting with people are everywhere. I just had a neighbor tell me this week how homeschool kids are different. In a good way. Better team members and more respectful to adults and good communicators etc... Even preferred coming over to use his pool because we aren’t as crazy. We will show him! ;). I don’t think it’s necessarily homeschooled kids, but kids raised with intentionality! . This is one of my favorite memories of our Yellowstone trip. Stopping at Fort Laramie in Kansas to do junior ranger and getting to participate in taking down the fort flag at the end of the day. This is how you do it. Encouraging your kids to talk to adults and stretch themselves for firsts and learning at every opportunity. Not being afraid to have real conversations with adults and people of al ages. Sitting down with a co-op teacher at lunch to talk just like you would a classmate. Ordering your own food at ChickFilA. . . I’m so done with concerns that my kids are missing out by being home. It’s so not validated by research or by the awesome parents I know with their own amazing little people. Let’s raise leaders and, hopefully, they’ll even be better at figuring this life out than we are. And feel confident enough to strike up conversations with strangers when I myself use my own shyness to prevent me from doing the same ;)
