Reclaiming Wonders
The image depicts a young girl, likely a preteen or young teenager, sitting at a laptop with a piano keyboard peripheral attached. She is wearing a whimsical knit hat resembling a chipmunk or other forest creature with large eyes and ears. Her hands are positioned on the piano keys as if she is engaged in an online piano lesson or tutorial. Adjacent to the laptop is a notepad and pen, implying she may be taking notes or following along with written instructions. The background is a typical home interior setting with neutral-colored walls and trim.

Online Piano Lesson at Home

When one uses technology, you should wear your chipmunk hat... definitely ;). Here is my girl with her free piano lessons online with Mr Hoffman. . Ironically, it’s been a heavy tech day for our Normal. The TV hasn’t been on yet though so that’s a plus. Audiobooks were played on the phone for hours. One kid used our lifetime subscription to Clever Dragons for some extra math time on the computer, and then little brother got 30 minutes of free play for Wild Kratts games. That’s about all we do. Other than some weekend video games and zombie killing for bonding with Dad.... And more TV than I would like. . . I find that the more they have access to phones and computers, the more obsessive some of them are about them. I get so tired of being asked all day. We are working on finding the balance between using for good and finding “better things to do” ;). For now, we can all share my computer and pass off the home cellphone for audiobook turns. That and the occasional FaceTime call with family. . . We have stinky country-life internet, and although it’s mostly a pain, it’s nice to have the limitations to keep us focused elsewhere. Silver lining!
