Reclaiming Wonders
The image depicts a wooden table littered with various books, notebooks, and writing materials. In the center lies an open notebook with handwritten notes and lists, presumably related to reading or educational topics. Surrounding the notebook are several books, including a hardcover titled 'Indescribable: 100 Devotions for Kids About God and Science,' a collection of Shakespeare's illustrated stories, and a book on space exploration. The table's surface is well-worn and rustic, adding a cozy and lived-in atmosphere. The image conveys a sense of learning, exploration, and a love for literature.

Family Reading Routine

Truth bomb: Most of our read alouds come in the version of Scribd playing in the car. Or me reading as we’re gathered around the table at morning time. That’s it. And yes, it counts, but most is not while all snuggly on the couch. . . And it’s not lost on me the irony of talking about #readalouds when the library hasn’t been visited in months due to mandatory Corona-cation. But here we sit. ;) Most of the time I have a huge stack of history or biographies or science or fun picture books, and we read a couple a day around the table. In addition to the every day reading books. . . We’ve almost finished “The Story” which is steped up from a kid Bible with some quoted Bible passages and some summary. Mixed in with some Indescribable devotionals which line up with our CC science topics. A little Shakespeare. A couple pages from our 100 Things about Space book from Usborne - a group favorite. And we recently did sit through Clementine and Dahl’s The Magic Finger. Both funny with pictures - which helps. Also recently some Tuttle Twins economic books. . . I do try to log all our audiobooks and library finds in my bullet journal so I can track what we’re reading as well as reference back if one was really great to check out again later. . . It’s not perfect. But it’s us. So claiming it! ;)
