Ducks at the Peabody Hotel

When a book guides your destinations… 🤓 . I tried to talk the kids out of seeing the march of the ducks at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis. But they unanimously said we were going. Online, I had been reading that it wasn’t a big deal and you just wait for nothing… I’m so glad I didn’t listen to the any-sayers. . The five ducks in the fountain were our goal. But also? It’s a beautiful hotel especially with what one kid declared his “most favorite Christmas tree ever”. Sit in the lobby, order a Coke, watch the duck action, and maybe get a little excited when you see the Duckmaster coming. . When he found out we were just there for the ducks, the enthusiastic duckmaster recruited the kids for their special duty rolling out the red carpet for the ducks. . Now, while the Peabody didn’t play a Sousa march like in Patricia Polacco’s fictionalized picture book, it was still definitely a great way to spend an hour in downtown Memphis. ❤️ . .
