Balancing Homeschool and Family Adventures
Bribed with an audiobook and headphones, I got my teen to adventure with us today. It’s been a hard middle ground trying to figure out how to personalize her 8th grade curriculum in a way that still gives her family time. To remember childhood isn’t all about lessons.
.
There have been weeks she hasn’t finished all her Latin assignments or skipped the extra science project for class. And that’s okay. Call it a major homeschool perk!
.
Prioritizing and not being 100% has been an adjustment for kid and mom. But totally worth it - Because I’d much rather her meet with us for two hours in the morning to do our Bible reading or read beautiful picture books or work through our apologetics book.
.
Talk to the older moms. Let them reassure you - they have me time and again - that it will be okay. Big kids aren’t as difficult as it seems. The transcript will be done. The credits found. My friend told me to always choose the field trips and family adventures over book work for class. Wise woman that one!

Take time to enjoy your teens! And remember they have the rest of their lives to be stuck at a desk.. maybe 😉
