Don't Be Afraid to Simplify Math Learning
“Don’t be a slave to the curriculum” - such a popular homeschool mantra. But it’s so hard to live by. Surely, the people who developed these books know more than us… and we spent all that money… and what if I mess it up…
.
❓Many of y’all asked what we use for math now. They do the occasional mom-picked worksheet, play Clever Dragons online sometimes, and play lots of games. “Real math” doesn’t start until upper elementary.
.
I’ve tried probably four different brands, but I keep coming back to Saxon for the big kids. Honestly, so many of the others seem like fluff. Call me a snob. 🤓
.
I love how it has review daily in the homework and shows which lesson to look at if you don’t remember. I know its strong enough for my math-strong kids.

🛑 Skip all the extra practice sets.
🛑 Don’t solve every problem.
🛑 Skip the lessons they have already mastered.
🛑 Don’t do the mental math portion - my kids want to already do it all in their heads 😂
