Discover Oklahoma City: A Surprising Urban Adventure
A road trip to Oklahoma City? 10+ reasons to stay and explore.
We visit OKC often to visit the great-grandparents. My husband refers to it as a boring, old people town, but it has so much to offer - he’s just never with us to see it!
1. Oklahoma Science Museum. My kids’ favorite museum ever where we’ve been know to return the next day. This is a ginormous kid museum with hands-on everything! @osm_okc
2. Walk the Riverwalk and find a fun lunch spot. You can even ride the river like in San Antonio.
3. Museum of Osteology. I thought a bone Museum sounded so boring - but it’s awesome! A must for science and animal lovers. @museumofosteologyokc
4. Oklahoma City National Memorial. This lesser known bombing event from my childhood is so important to remember. Best for bigs.
5. Explore the Oklahoma Capitol building. It’s lovely.
6. Wander Lake Hefner. Explore the Lighthouse. Wander paths, feed the ducks, and burn energy on the playgrounds. This is also a great place for a fancy restaurant date.
7. Check out the new First Americans Museum. I’ve heard it’s beautiful, and it is on my list for our summer visit 2023! @firstamericansmuseum
8. Finish your day at Hideaway Pizza. It’s an OKC favorite for our family for more than 40 years! @hideawaypizza
9. If you want some nature, head south to the Wichita Mountains and maybe you’ll see some buffalo after your hike. @wichitamountains
10. Scissortail Park is on my list to check out too! @scissortailpark
Don’t over look the Zoo. Art museum. Basketball. Botanical gardens. History museum. Western culture museum. Banjo museum?! Amusement park. Water park…
There’s so much to do in this Oklahoma’s capital, and some of these are free with your Museum reciprocity. Did I convince you to stop yet?
👉Tell me which of these just moved up your list. And quit just driving through OKC!
