Day at Colonial Williamsburg
I would have done Williamsburg differently if I had known more. Williamsburg has been great to visit and support. The visitors are down. The parking lot is pretty empty. The waits haven’t been bad. But...

I wish we had gotten the three day pass for a little more money. There’s too much to see in one day even with fewer places open. We could have seen little pieces of the town on our other visits especially since the schedule of special events changes some days. I can’t imagine how rushed you would feel if it was fully open. We do like to dawdle.

.
I felt frustrated many times during the day, feeling like facts could be better communicated. Or stuff they assume you know. Put out a sign that says “Line up here. We’re taking in small groups.” I don’t like having to figure it out. And don’t say places are open if they aren’t. Small sign? PS: There is no drum and fife show during Covid.

I did enjoy it. The kids had a great day exploring. The Governor’s Palace was our favorite. They even caught onto Jeffersonian details in the house from his time as Governor. They ran around the maze in the gardens. M had lots of questions - and I feel like some of the guides didn’t really have much patience for her questions.

But the kids were unfazed. M loves history. C has plans for his garden at home. K and H have played rock, paper, scissors all over town. And they all might currently be reconstructing the Palace on Minecraft ;)
