Reclaiming Wonders
The image depicts a cozy and relaxed scene of a family lounging together on a bed. A young blonde girl is reading a book while lying on top of a large brown dog, who seems content and unbothered. Another girl, possibly a sibling, is lying next to them with a purple hoodie covering her face, suggesting she may be napping. The room has a warm and inviting feel, with wooden furniture, colorful bedding, and various personal items scattered about, creating a lived-in and comfortable atmosphere.

Cozy Family Reading Time

Truth bomb... I do not like teaching my kids to read, and I’m not good at it. Poor third kid. I’ve bought curriculum. Used it twice and shelved it. I have sight word sheets and flash cards and several sets of primers. I’m not patient enough. I can only say the same word so many times. And yet, you’re making all the sounds which are not in that word. Like at all. So new approach. Slugging through a Magic Tree House one word at a time. At least it’s fun stories. For some reason, words like “Egypt” and “burial chamber” and “suddenly” can be read, but words like “to” and “then” are a struggle. But she doesn’t seem to feel it’s a struggle. Or notice that other kids is her classes read better. And she loves the cuddles and quiet moments with me. And doesn’t seem to be frustrated by the pace. Someday, she will get it. Until then, I’m learning patience ;) and she’s discovered audiobooks...
