Reclaiming Wonders
A concrete driveway with words and drawings scrawled on it in colorful chalk. The writings appear to be a psalm or religious text, with phrases like 'I praise you', 'my rock', 'my fortress', 'my deliverer', and 'my shield'. At the bottom, the word 'Psalm' is written in large red letters. The driveway is surrounded by mulched landscaping and a wooden fence, suggesting a residential setting.

Child's Chalk Psalm

Yesterday was a bad day. Ugly words. Tears. And my intervention led to required naps for littles and alone time for bigs. And cancelled library and ChikFilA plans... the horror! ;) . And as we left post-rest for choir, I found that king of the ugliness had chosen to spend an hour writing a Psalm on the driveway. Just because. . I need to remember that, on the hairy mom-hiding-in-her-room days, little hearts are still listening even if only anger is expressed. And Jesus is still working on them. Because it seems what I’m saying isn’t getting through. And maybe that’s the point. . Bonus: This verse “just happened” to be read tonight at the band concert we attended several hours later, and he excitedly turned to me to make sure I was listening ;)
