Tips for Layering When Snowboarding or Skiing

Have you mastered layering for snowboarding or skiing in all temps? Here are some tricks for layering: - Look at what’s already in your closet! Every single layer I wore on top aside from the snowboarding-specific jacket are things I wear hiking and day-to-day - If you only buy one jacket, get it at least one size up. This makes it easier to layer more underneath when needed & having clothes that are not skin tight is actually better for heat circulation - Utilize your vents! Most snow pants and jackets have vents under the armpits and either inside or outside of the thighs for if and when you get warm - If temps are supposed to swing wildly throughout the day, bring a little backpack to de-layer - Consider your ability level and conditions: as you advance skiing and snowboarding, you’ll actually usually use less energy on the same runs as a beginner because the movements are easier. - Not only that but you’ll likely be going faster, so the windchill on your face will be lower. Imagine the difference between sticking your head out of the car window going 10 mph vs 30 or 40 mph! Found this helpful, want specific clothing item recs or have more tips?
