The Importance of Resting and Recharging

How often to you consciously and fully rest in a week? (Save this post to remind yourself to take a step back every now and then!) I’ll be the first to admit that I’ll go weeks without fully checking out and relaxing and resetting. 🙋🏼‍♀️ And now I’m learning that if I don’t rest I let procrastination and a false lack of confidence get the best of me. Like: “Oh I need to engage on IG” turns into aimless scrolling for hours “Time to schedule social media posts for the week” turns into oh idk anything about Pinterest so I’ll clean the kitchen instead. “Gotta start the edit for this weeks YouTube video” turns into the sun is setting and the kitties are so cute in the pretty light. Literally anything will distract me from getting things done and before I know it, it’s 10pm (which I’m also recognizing I work better later in the day/evening, but I’ll talk about that later) and I’m pushing to get as many things done as I can but inevitably will decide xxx isn’t worth losing sleep over and then I’m going to bed at 1am and forcing myself awake at 6am, causing the cycle to start all over again. I took this weekend to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. If I wanted to sleep, I slept. If I wanted to binge a show on Netflix, I did. Sometimes I wanted to just watch my cats do what cats do, so I did. All of which are things I normally do on the weekends but with a lot of guilt because I’m not working on my business when these are vital hours I could be utilizing. So this weekend I took the time to say no more guilt, just relax and holy cow did I need it. Let this be your reminder to let it all go, consciously, at least once a week. Maybe not for two days, but even for just an hour. I’m going to guess you probably need it just as much as I did! Are you going to take an actual break this week?
